March Farm Photo Journal

Last Thursday, our flock of ISA Browns arrived to the farm and we are thrilled to have them!  They are adjusting well to Grayslake and they made it through several extremely windy nights (with 60mph wind gusts!) with no damage to their newly constructed mobile chicken home.  Whew, we are all sleeping easier now!

Early morning with the chickens

Farm work is always a team effort, and we're grateful to be surrounded by great people who continue to farm and laugh with us.  Thanks to Jeff C., Nicole, Charlotte and Tyler, we've accomplished a great deal of seeding in our greenhouse in preparation for spring and summer planting.

Finally, I serve on the executive board of the Band of Farmers, a coalition of CSA farmers that provide food to the Chicago area.  If you're interested in local farm products or CSA shares that we don't currently offer ourselves, we'd encourage you to visit the Band of Farmers CSA Guide for options.  We're happy to call many of these farmers our friends, so please let us know if you'd like any specific recommendations.  Enjoy!
~ Jen
